Youth Fire Intervention Program Privacy Protection Notice

Under the NSW Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is authorised to collect personal and health information under certain circumstances.

Our purpose of collecting this information:

This information is being collected as part of the Youth Fire Intervention program to assess referrals, coordinate support services, and deliver appropriate fire prevention interventions for young people. It may also be used for research purposes that support FRNSW’s responsibilities under its prevention and community engagement programs.

Intended recipients of this information:

The information may be accessed by authorised staff within FRNSW who are involved in program delivery and case management. It may also be shared with the University of NSW (UNSW) in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding for evaluation and research purposes. Information will not be disclosed to any other third parties unless authorised or required by law (e.g., in response to a serious health and safety risk or audit).

Access to, or correction of this information:

The supply of this information is voluntary. However, if the requested information is not provided, FRNSW may be unable to offer appropriate support or determine the suitability of a referral for participation in the program.

Storage of Information:

This information will be securely stored on FRNSW systems hosted in Australia.

Access is restricted to authorised FRNSW staff members, who are trained in handling sensitive information. The data will be retained in line with FRNSW’s records retention schedule and legal obligations.
