Dryer Fire - Young

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is urging the public to be mindful of using dryers following a fire at a commercial laundry on Currawong Street, Young this afternoon.
FRNSW arrived on scene to find the commercial laundry smoke-logged. Around ten people had self-evacuated from the building.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus to safely enter the premises and extinguish the dryer fire, preventing further spread to the building.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has urged the public to stay out of harm this winter by following these simple safety steps when using your dryer:
• Clean your lint filter before each use.
• Never leave the dryer operating when you leave the house or
• Ensure there is adequate air flow around your dryer.
A fire can take hold in minutes, yet it only takes seconds to prevent one. Take action to stay out of harm this winter.
