New generation fire engine boosts emergency response

Emergency response has been bolstered in the state’s Central West with a new $1.3 million Rescue Pumper, equipped with the latest technology.
The new generation Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) truck for Orange Fire Station is purpose-built for rescues and features improved equipment storage, including an innovative ‘carousel’ that provides firefighters easy access to a range of new equipment.
The carousel houses three of the latest battery-powered cutting tools, accessible from both sides of the truck tray, minimising handling risks.
These new tools will be standard issue for FRNSW’s Rescue Pumpers and Heavy Rescue appliances moving forward.
The switch from hydraulic to battery-powered rescue tools means firefighters can start using them faster at incidents and allows for greater manoeuvrability.
The engine’s cabin can seat up to five firefighters and allows them to exit the appliance wearing their breathing apparatus, saving seconds during a response.
This announcement is part of more than $105 million allocated by the NSW Government for FRNSW infrastructure and fleet this financial year.
