Car Fire - Surry Hills

Just before 7:30am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to a car fire in the Eastern Distributor Tunnel, Surry Hills.
Crews on scene found a utility vehicle with a timber load fully involved in fire, with large plumes of smoke impacting firefighting efforts.
The driver of the vehicle managed to evacuate safely and no injuries have been reported.
The fire has since been extinguished, however the Eastern Distributor has been closed southbound as emergency services continue to render the area safe. Traffic is significantly impacted and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
NSW Police are also on scene for traffic control, please exercise caution if driving through the area.
