Unit Fire - Hamilton South

Just after 1pm today several Fire and Rescue NSW crews from the Hunter region responded to Fowler St, Hamilton South after receiving numerous Triple Zero calls (000) with reports of a unit block fire.
Crews from Lambton Fire Station were first on scene and found a second story unit well alight with large volumes of smoke issuing from the roof.
More than 50 residents were evacuated as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and prevent further spread to adjoining units.
Firefighters have managed to bring the blaze under control however two units in the building have been damaged.
No injuries have been reported, however NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are in attendance as a precaution.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
