Unit Fire - Rockdale

Just before 1.30pm today, multiple Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to the Princess Highway, Rockdale after receiving multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a unit fire.
Crews from Kogarah Fire Station were first on scene and found large amounts of black smoke issuing from a residential unit complex.
Firefighters gained entry into a level five unit and worked quickly to extinguish the fire which appears to have started on the balcony of the unit.
Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading into other units, however more than 20 people were evacuated from the complex with no injuries reported.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are also in attendance, investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
