Published: 10 Sep 2020 07:54pm
Shortly before 8pm Thursday 10 September, Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a home on Alexandra St, Parkes following numerous Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a large fire.
Crews from Parkes, Forbes and Dubbo Fire Stations arrived on scene to find a single level home fully alight with all occupants already evacuated.
Crews worked to contain the fire to the building of origin and were able to extinguish the fire just before 9:30pm. However the property had collapsed and was completely destroyed in the blaze.
The resident's dog also fled as a result of the fire but was found unharmed a short time later.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life threatening or time critical situations.
