Fire and Rescue NSW crew rescues ducklings stuck in storm water drain - VIDEO - Greystanes

Published: 14 Dec 2022 06:38am

New video footage shows a Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crew rescuing four ducklings who 'took like a duck' to a storm water drain in Sydney's west.

Local residents called emergency services for help after hearing the wayward waddlers in distress on Camellia St in Greystanes, around 12:30pm yesterday.

The brood had plunged approximately 1.5 metres into the drain and was unable to get out.

FRNSW firefighters quickly got their 'ducks in a row', arriving on scene just 30 seconds after receiving the call.

They conducted atmospheric testing before 'ducking into' the confined space to save the baby birds.

Following their ordeal, the ducklings were deemed to have a perfect 'bill' of health and released into a nearby pond with their mum and five siblings.

The happy reunion has also given the fire crew involved a 'quacking' story to tell their colleagues back at the station.
