Around 350 evacuated during gas emergency - Waterloo
Published: 03 Aug 2022 11:28am
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are working to seal a gas leak that's resulted in the evacuation of around 350 people today at Waterloo in inner Sydney.
The alarm was raised just before 10.30am when two people at the Botany Road construction site reported feeling unwell.
Authorities and site management evacuated the property and nearby buildings as a precaution, as crews from six FRNSW trucks, including Hazardous Materials experts, try to identify the source of the leak and the type of gas involved.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible, particularly Botany Road near Buckland Street.
