House Fire - St Marys

A brave resident used the "Get down low and go go go" method to rescue a neighbour's menagerie of animals following a fire in a Hobart Street, St Marys residence today.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to the property shortly before 12:30pm today and when they arrived discovered a neighbour had braved the flames to rescue a cat and two dogs after he discovered the fire in the rear yard building of the premises. No one was home at the time.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and rescued a kitten. NSW Ambulance treated the man with oxygen for smoke inhalation while firefighters also treated the rescued kitten with oxygen.

The occupant's pet snakes, lizards and monitors also all survived.
