Gas Leak - Sydney CBD

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters are working to contain a gas leak that occurred on Bathurst Street in the Sydney CBD just before 1.30pm this afternoon.
Firefighters from City of Sydney Fire Station arrived shortly after to find a large leak from a gas line that ruptured as a result of excavations being carried out nearby.
Firefighters have cordoned off the area and set up fire protection as a precaution. Crews are awaiting a specialist gas technician for repairs.
Liverpool and Pitt Street are currently closed as operations continue. Traffic is heavily affected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
