Dryer Fire - Baulkham Hills

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to Merinda Avenue, Baulkham Hills after a Triple Zero (000) caller reported smoke issuing from the roof of a home at 2.24pm today.
Crews from Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills and Beecroft fire stations arrived shortly after to find smoke issuing from the rear of a small single level home.
After gaining entry into the home, firefighters located a clothes dryer alight in the laundry and worked quickly to extinguish the fire, preventing further damage to the house.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has urged the public to stay out of harm this winter by following these simple safety steps when using your dryer:
• Clean your lint filter before each use.
• Never leave the dryer operating when you leave the house or
• Ensure there is adequate air flow around your dryer.
A fire can take hold in minutes, yet it only takes seconds to prevent one. Take action to stay out of harm this winter.
