Unit Fire - Greenwich

Just before 3:30pm Fire and Rescue NSW responded to a unit fire in Greenwich, Lane Cove. With multiple triple 000 calls of smoke issuing from the second level of a four floor Unit block.
On arrival Fire and Rescue from Neutral Bay, Willoughby and Crows Nest found the bedroom to be alight. One crew got to work to gain entry to the unit whilst the other used a hose line to extinguish the fire and inhibit further spread.
NSW Police were in attendance and assisted in the evacuation of residents. Ambulance NSW were also in attendance to treat any residents of smoke inhalation.
All residents approximately 40 had self evacuated, some suffering some smoke inhalation and were being assessed by Ambulance at the scene. One of the occupants of the unit a 60 year old male was assessed and later released. Whilst the other occupant 65 year old Female of the unit was being transported to Royal Northshore hospital for treatment of minor burns.
Fire and Rescue NSW worked for some time to contain the blaze due to extensive material in the unit fueling the fire.
