Just after 3.15pm, Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to a house fire on Lauren Ave, Lake Munmorah after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported seeing smoke.
Multiple fire stations from the Central Coast responded to the incident and on arrival found a single level home with smoke and flames issuing.
Firefighters entered the house to attack the blaze and worked hard to contain the fire to the area of origin.
Once extinguished, crews ventilated the smoke filled house.
While the incident originated in the kitchen area it is thought an electrical fault sparked the blaze.
