Structural issue/gas leak - Westmead
Published: 27 Oct 2020 01:30pm
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Wentworthville, Blacktown and Parramatta attended a residential apartment complex in Lydbrook Street Westmead today after a resident raised concerns about large cracks appearing in the building.
FRNSW arrived on scene at 1.33pm after being alerted to the appearance of large cracks and strange noises in the building at 1.30pm.
During an inspection of the building the crew discovered a gas leak in the front of the building and as a precaution ordered the closure of the street with the assistance of NSW Police.
An engineer was called in to inspect the building while gas crews worked to determine the extent of the gas leak.
Following careful inspection of the building and the gas line both were declared safe shortly before 4pm and the street reopened to the public.
No evacuations were required.
