Published: 05 Sep 2020 11:43am

At 11:43am Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Moama Fire Station
responded to reports of a fire in a launderette store on Meninya Street, Moama.

On arrival crews gained entry to find a dryer smouldering. After quickly extinguishing the fire and preventing further damage, crews cleared the smoke with fans and rendered the area safe.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has urged the public to stay out of harm this winter by following these simple safety steps when using your dryer:

• Clean your lint filter before each use.
• Never leave the dryer operating when you leave the house or
when sleeping.
• Ensure there is adequate air flow around your dryer.

A fire can take hold in minutes, yet it only takes seconds to prevent one. Take action to stay out of harm this winter.
