House Fire - Castle Hill
Published: 28 Aug 2020 09:44am
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from across Western Sydney were called to a home on Rowallan Avenue, Castle Hill at approximately 9:45am after a number of Triple Zero (000) calls reported a house fire.
The first crews arrived to the scene in four minutes to find copious amounts of smoke and the house well alight.
A total of six crews were called to the home and the blaze was considered 'controlled' in approximately 20 minutes.
Work is continuing to fully extinguish the blaze.
All occupants of the home self evacuated and there were no injuries.
Reports suggest that the cause of the fire was a heater being left on.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson stressed the importance of residents always checking heaters before use in winter.
"Check all cords for fraying and damage and if you suspect a fault, have the item checked by a qualified repairer or replaced it.
"It is important to not overload power boards and to ensure everything is kept at least one meter from the heater" he said.
