Building Fire - Leichhardt
Published: 05 Aug 2020 01:56am
Just before 2am this morning Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to reports of a building fire on Moore St, Leichhardt.
More than 20 firefighters from across the Inner West battled the blaze which was believed to have started in the loading dock of the building and spread to a residential building on the same property.
More than ten residents were safely evacuated and crews were able to contain the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
