Restaurant Fire - Chatswood
Published: 23 Jun 2020 07:44am
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Willoughby, Lane Cove, Crows Nest and Forestville Fire Stations attended an electrical fire in a restaurant in Chatswood's Westfield Shopping Centre.
The restaurant's fire protection sprinklers extinguished the fire and firefighters completed salvage and overhaul to render the site safe.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said the leading cause of house fires in NSW is leaving cooking unattended and it was important the community remembered to keep looking when cooking.
"If your cooking catches fire, never use water to put out a fat or oil fire, turn off the stove if it is safe to do so and call Triple Zero (000)."
