Grass Fire - Prospect
Published: 01 Dec 2020 01:02pm
Just after 1pm today Fire and Rescue NSW received numerous Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a grass fire on the Great Western Hwy in Prospect.
Crews from Seven Hills Fire Station arrived on scene a short time later to find that a truck had crashed into power lines which had fallen and started a fire in around one hectare of grassland.
Strong winds meant the fire was heading towards nearby bushland and extra firefighters were called to contain the fire.
More than a dozen firefighters from both Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service battled the blaze from almost an hour, extinguishing it just after 2pm.
