Early this morning firefighters from Woollahra, Darlinghurst and City of Sydney responded to a fire in a building in New South Head Road at Double Bay. Fire crews were on scene within five minutes to find fire spreading through the roof of a detached building behind a hotel. Sixty people were evacuated from the building and the hotel with no reports of any injuries. A hydraulic ladder fire engine was used to contain the fire and protect the hotel. The fire was extinguished in one and a half hours with fire crews assisting with the clean up to prevent further damage.
