Get snapped with a Firefighter, learn about fire safety
Published: 18th March 2008
People who are eager to have their photo taken with a firefighter and learn more about fire safety, should make their way to the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) stand at the 2008 Royal Easter Show, NSWFB Commissioner Greg Mullins said today.
Commissioner Mullins said this year's stand would be bigger and better than ever and feature a free show bag and brochures on smoke alarms, escape plans and home fire safety.
"It's really important for everyone to know what to do in the event of fire and to have a Home Escape Plan which is practised regularly," Commissioner Mullins said.
"Our firefighters will be there to answer any questions people have on fire safety and fire prevention in the home.
"Show visitors will also have the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken with our firefighters."
Everyone who has their photo taken with a firefighter will be given a unique number so that they can download their free picture by visiting the homepage on the NSW Fire Brigades website at www.fire.nsw.gov.au.
This year's NSWFB stand promotes the importance of having smoke alarms as well as the 'Change Your Clock, Change Your Smoke Alarm Battery' initiative, which encourages everyone to take a few minutes to change the batteries in their smoke alarms when they change their clocks for Daylight Saving on Sunday 6 April 2008.
The NSWFB stand is in the Home Garden & Lifestyle Pavilion and will be open from 11am - 5pm from 20 March to 2 April 2008.
