House fire in Glen Innes
Published: 7th October 2007
This morning firefighters from Glen Innes were called to a house fire in Lambeth Street, Glen Innes. The house was used as a maternity hospital at the turn of the 19th Century. Upon arrival firefighters found the house to be engulfed with flames and extreme heat threatening the northern side of the house. Fire crews set up fire hoses to protect adjacent buildings while other crews in breathing apparatus got to work on extinguishing the fire. Unfortunately due to the very strong winds that were blowing from the south-west at the time of the fire, firefighters were unable to save the old dwelling.
