Factory fire in Ryde

Published: 6th July 2007

This afternoon a fire in a disused factory in Church Street at Ryde resulted in numerous Triple Zero (000) calls. Due to the large number of emergency calls the NSW Fire Brigades dispatched eight fire engines to the incident. The first firefighters to arrive at the blaze found the building engulfed in fire. Large fire hoses were used to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring premises. Fire crews brought the fire under control and crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the two level factory to extinguish the fire. Firefighters from Ryde, Gladesville, Eastwood, Concord, Burwood, Parramatta, Rydalmere, Drummoyne and Hazmat specialists from Greenacre attended the fire.
