House fire at Kurri Kurri
Published: 29th June 2007
Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this evening to a house on fire in Alexandra Street at Kurri Kurri. Fire crews from Kurri Kurri, Weston, Albermain, Maitland, East Maitland and Kearsley responded to the fire. On arrival firefighters were confronted by a large fire inside the single level house which was threatening nearby houses. Fire hoses were set up to protect neighbouring properties from possible fire spread while other firefighters determined that there was no one inside as they began extinguishing the blaze. There was a danger of a roof collapse as the fire had spread into the roof area so fire crews had to withdraw and continue to extinguish the fire from outside the house. The house suffered extensive damage but adjoining properties were saved and there were no reports of any injuries.
