NSWFB appoints new Zone Commander for Central NSW
Published: 24th April 2007NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) Assistant Commissioner Mark Brown, Director of Regional Operations, today announced the appointment of Superintendent David Felton to the position of Zone Commander for Central NSW.
in Dubbo, Superintendent Felton will be responsible for an area
stretching from Broken Hill in the west, Wellington in the east,
Lighting Ridge in the north and Parkes in the south. He will be
responsible for 20 fire stations and approximately 280 full-time and
Mr Brown said that Superintendent Felton was an experienced fire officer with over two decades service in the NSWFB.
“Superintendent Felton has been a fire officer for over 21 years. He has extensive operational experience and was awarded a Commendation for Courageous Action at a hotel fire in Kings Cross for rescuing a fellow firefighter,” he said.
Superintendent Felton said that he was keen to promote the role of the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) in regional and rural NSW.
“I want to strengthen and maintain the relationships we have with our key stakeholders including culturally and linguistically diverse groups and other emergency services.
“This will enable us to tailor the services we deliver to the needs of individual communities and groups and ensure that the people of regional NSW are equipped with the knowledge they need to prepare for and prevent fire and other emergencies in regional NSW,” he said.
Prior to being appointed Zone Commander, Central West, Superintendent Felton was a firefighter and then station officer at stations across the Greater Sydney Area including Darlinghurst, Woollahra, City of Sydney and Wentworthville. His most recent appointment was in Leeton where he spent four years as an Inspector.
Superintendent Felton has moved to the area with his wife and four young children and said he and his wife Pam were looking forward to being involved in the community of Dubbo.
