Fire and Rescue NSW’s Open Day activities in metropolitan Sydney will go ahead as planned, with firefighters set to welcome the community tomorrow (Saturday 15 May).
Three major hubs will be held at Alexandria Fire Station, Emergency Services Academy at Orchard Hills and Museum of Fire at Penrith.
A number of local stations will also be opening their doors. To find out more, visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au/openday
FRNSW Deputy Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell said the ban on Sydney metropolitan firefighters participating in Open Day activities had been lifted and an agreement reached with the Fire Brigade Employee Union (FBEU).
“The annual FRNSW Open Day event offers families and children the opportunity to take a look inside their local FRNSW fire station, meet firefighters and learn about vital home fire safety,” he said.
“There will be something for the whole family at the event - kids will be able to get up close with the fire truck, whilst the grown-ups will be able to find out more about home fire safety.”
All planned activities and events are consistent with NSW Health guidelines to ensure the safety of both the NSW community and firefighters.
