14/04/11 - Smoke alarm saves Trangie family

Published: 14th April 2011

Trangie Station Commander David Wake said a working smoke alarm was the reason for a Trangie family's quick escape from a house fire in the early hours of this morning. He emphasized that people don't smell smoke in their sleep.

The fire began in a reverse cycle air-conditioner and a child in the house was awoken by a smoke alarm just after midnight. Fire crews arrived shortly after and quickly contained the fire.
