Published: 1st March 2010

The Newcastle Communications Centre started receiving numerous Triple Zero (000) calls to a house on fire at 12:45pm in Yara Cr, Maryland, and immediately responded fire rescue officers from Wallsend, Minmi, Cardiff, Newcastle and Lambton. The first arriving crews discovered the house was well alight and started attacking the fire with hoses to prevent it spreading to surrounding houses. The fire rescue officers were successful in preventing the fire from spreading and extinguished the fire within an hour. The crews stayed at the scene for several hours after extinguishment to complete clean-up operations.
