Silverwater factory fire

This morning firefighters from Silverwater, Rydalmere, Lidcombe, Parramatta and Concord responded to numerous Triple Zero calls to a factory fire in Fariola Rd Silverwater. On arrival firefighters identified large amounts of smoke coming from the factory. An assistance call was put in for further resources to help tackle the blaze. Firefighters from Eastwood, Ryde, Guildford, Huntingwood, Alexandria, Glebe, Revesby, Miranda, Willoughby, Seven Hills, Ashfield, City of Sydney, Gladesville, Lakemba, Fairfield, Horningsea Park, Penrith and St Andrews were all called in to assist.

This was a large factory fire that involved a building of approximately 100metres x 100metres. The fuel load in the factory was very high causing it to become totally on fire in a very short space of time. At the height of the blaze approximately 100 firefighters were attacking the fire. The professionalism and effort shown by the firefighters stopped the spread of the fire to surrounding premises. Evacuations were put in place in a neighbouring street as a precaution due to the smoke plume. This is an ongoing incident that should be terminated sometime late in the day of 3/08/09
