House fire in Wentworthville

Published: 26th April 2009

This morning firefighters from Wentworthville, Northmead, Parramatta and the Duty Commander responded to a house on fire in Railway Street, Wentworthville. Crews were on scene in seven minutes to find an unoccupied house engulfed in flames. A strong wind was pushing flames towards nearby buildings requiring fire crews to set up protecting fire hoses. While crews were extinguishing the fire several people were evacuated from a neighbouring building because smoke had entered the premises. The fire caused severe damage to the house and the neighbouring two level building suffered smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
