Hazmat incident in Hurstville

This morning firefighters from Kogarah, Mortdale, Arncliffe, Riverwood, Lakemba, Hazmat specialists from Greenacre and the Duty Commander responded to a hazmat incident in Crofts Avenue, Hurstville. Crews were on scene at the construction site in eight minutes to find several people overcome by fumes. A total of 158 people were evacuated from the six level building as Hazmat specialists used detectors to monitor for fume concentrations. Five people were taken to hospital and a further five people were treated at the scene. The construction site was handed over to WorkCover for investigation.
