Hazmat incident at Ku-Ring-Gai Chase
Published: 4th March 2009
Firefighters from Mona Vale, Hazmat specialists from Greenacre, the Duty Commander and a Hazmat Commander responded to Akuna Bay, Ku-Ring-Gai Chase this morning. Crews arrived to find a large spill of diesel, which had come from a nearby boat and had spread across the bay. The marina was shut down as fire crews with assistance from the RFS and NPWS set up booms to contain the spill and used skimmers to collect the diesel. Crews worked well into the afternoon to safely deal with the incident.
