Domestic garage fire in Villawood

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this evening to a domestic garage on fire in Hillcrest Avenue, Villawood. Fire crews from Fairfield, Cabramatta, Chester Hill, Bankstown and the Duty Commander responded to the emergency with crews on scene in seven minutes to be confronted with a garage totally engulfed in flames and the rear of the house also on fire. Quick actions by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the house and contained and extinguished the fire in the garage. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for any traces of fire in the house as crews assisted with the clean up (salvage) work. The garage was destroyed in the fire and the cause is being investigated.
