Calf rescued in Picton
Published: 23rd November 2008
Rescue firefighters from Rosemeadow responded to an unusual incident on Picton Road, Picton just before midday. The crew arrived to find the RSPCA on scene and a calf that had fallen into a full septic tank. The calf was in danger of drowning so firefighters attached a rope to the calf's neck to keep its head above the contents of the tank. A submersible pump was used to drain the tank to a level where the calf could stand on its legs. The RSPCA officer, wearing waders, placed a sling around the calf and with the help of a neighbour using a crane the calf was lifted to safety. A vet was on hand to check the calf's condition.
