Hazmat incident in Wyong
Published: 12th November 2008
This afternoon firefighters from Wyong, Hamlyn Terrace, Bateau Bay, Gosford, Hazmat specialists from Berkley Vale and the Duty Commander responded to a hazmat incident in Lucca Road, Wyong. On arrival firefighters found that the wrong chemicals had been mixed in a 200 litre stainless steel vat causing the solution to increase in temperature and give off fumes. The vat was placed in the open and the factory was evacuated while fire crews set up monitoring equipment. In consultation with an on-site chemist crews continued to monitor the vat until the chemicals had ceased to react.
