Firefighter Championships hit New England

Crew prestige and bragging rights will be on the line this weekend when firefighters from around the state compete at the regional Firefighting Championships in Tamworth.
Twenty one crews will be vying for championship honours in 11 events, racing up ladders, scrambling to connect hose lines and demonstrating agility, accuracy and excellence in team work, executing key firefighting and rescue capabilities.
The competition runs from 8am this Saturday 7 March until 1pm on Sunday 8 March at the Gipps Street Fields.
The Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) stations at Wyong and Ulladulla, and the Rural Fire Service’s local Kootingal crew, have entered multiple teams as they seek to claim the top prize in each category.
The teams are as follows:

- Kootingal RFS B
- Kootingal RFS C
- Kurri Kurri (FRNSW)

- Moss Vale (FRNSW)
- South Tamworth (FRNSW)
- South West Rocks (FRNSW)
- Tamworth City RFSTrangie (FRNSW)
- Ulladulla (FRNSW)
- Ulladulla B (FRNSW)
- Uralla (FRNSW)
- Walcha (FRNSW)
- Wangi Wangi (FRNSW)
- Wyong (FRNSW)
- Wyong B (FRNSW)
These heats, along with another regional event at Goulburn in August, will lead to the State Championships at Coffs Harbour in October, when crews as far afield as Victoria will compete.
