The Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) stand will be the one to see at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show, offering show-goers plenty of hands-on, interactive experiences.

FRNSW’s Show display will include ‘paw-some' demonstrations, including a K9 capability demonstration where a highly trained ‘Ignitable Liquid Detection Canine’ successfully seeks and identifies a single drop of accelerant placed on the shoe of a ‘crowd member.’

Firefighters will also conduct a controlled kitchen burn which will highlight how quickly kitchen fires can start and take hold; demonstrate specialist tools and drones they use during rescue and recovery operations; guide people through an interactive home fire safety display; and answer any relevant questions from the public.

As the fastest growing fire risk in New South Wales, lithium-ion batteries will also be a focus, with information on how people can shop, charge, and recycle safely readily available.

You can find the FRNSW team on New England Ave opposite the Murchison Pavilion.

Quotes attributable to FRNSW Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell:

“The Royal Easter show is a key date on the Fire and Rescue NSW calendar. Our firefighters and staff relish the opportunity to meet the public and share crucial fire safety information.

“Our interactive display allows visitors to meet real firefighters and get up close to our specialist trucks, tools and equipment.

“For many people in our community, Easter is a time to come together, and we hope we can help them do so safely by learning about fire safety during their time with us at the show.”
