Gas leak in Kirribilli
Published: 4th November 2008
A low pressure gas main was ruptured by workers this afternoon in Broughton Street, Kirribilli. Firefighters from Neutral Bay, Crows Nest, Hazmat specialists from Alexandria and the Duty Commander responded to the incident and evacuated the immediate area, including shops and a school, as a safety precaution. Firefighters set up fire hoses to disperse the gas vapours and after ensuring the school was safe allowed the students to return. The gas company was able to clamp the gas pipe shutting off the leak and fire crews dispersed the gas vapours.
