Truck fire on the F3

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this morning to a truck on fire on the F3 Freeway northbound near the Mooney Mooney weigh station. Firefighters from Kariong, Berkley Vale, Wyoming, Wyong and the Duty Commander arrived to discover a large trailer carrying alcohol ablaze with no prime mover. The driver had uncoupled the prime mover saving it from the fire. RFS firefighters from Gosford and Hornsby district responded to the incident and due to the location an RFS bulk water tanker was used by fire crews to extinguish the fire. Several lanes of the freeway were closed during the incident causing disruptions to traffic.
