Hazmat incident at Campsie

Firefighters from Marrickville and Campsie along with Hazmat specialists from Alexandria and Greenacre responded to Scahill Street, Campsie this afternoon. Fire crews were informed of a possible radioactive material in a rear shed. After establishing an exclusion zone fire crews wearing protective suits used detection equipment to determine that there were no radiation readings. The hazardous material was placed into a hazmat container for disposal by council. Firefighters carried out a further atmospheric check before giving the all clear.
