Marine 1 performs medical assistance at Harbour incident

This morning Marine 1 were carrying out training exercises with the crew of 17 Stn Drummoyne "D" platoon and instructor Dean Gardner in Athol Bay off Taronga Zoo wharf. Whilst carrying out these exercises the crew were also monitoring channel 13 of the commercial shipping channel, when they heard a call of man overboard from a ferry near the wharf. The crew notified Sydney communications and responded to the area to render assistance. On arrival the male had been rescued by persons from a recreational vessel but was suffering breathing difficulties. Members of Marine 1 boarded the vessel and administered oxygen therapy. Ambulance was notified and the victim was transferred to Ambulance officers at the Taronga Zoo wharf and transported to hospital.
