Kogarah chocolate nut fire

Published: 30th July 2008

During the morning firefighters from Kogarah, Arncliffe, Hurstville, Campsie as well as the Duty Commander from Kogarah attended a fire in the roof of chocolate nut factory on the Princess Highway at Kogarah. Crews arrived within six minutes and were quick to confine the fire within the ducting of the building. Two lanes northbound were blocked and Police were called to manage the traffic. Firefighting efforts were hampered because the power supply to the building was in the same location as the seat of the fire. Integral energy had to isolate power so firefighters could concentrate their fire attack on the seat of the fire. Power was finally isolated and firefighters eventually extinguished the fire containing the fire to the roof area of the building. There were no injuries and approximately ten persons were safely evacuated from the premises.
