Boat fire at Toronto
Published: 20th May 2008
Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received late tonight to a boat on fire at a yacht club in Bath Street at Toronto. Firefighters from Toronto, Teralba, Newcastle and Hamilton were quickly on scene to find a 40 foot cabin cruiser ablaze. The vessel was moored near a wharf and was surrounded by other boats. Fire crews concentrated on ensuring that the fire did not spread to any other boats and had to render first aid to a person who was suffering from burns. The cabin cruiser was destroyed and sunk resulting in a fuel leak. Hazmat specialists placed booms around the sunken vessel to absorb the leak.
