Open Day
Published: 1st June 2008
An Open Day for the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) will be held on Sunday 1 June where fire stations across the state will open their doors and offer the public a personal glimpse into one of Australia's leading fire and rescue services.
As part of Open Day activities, adults and children of all ages are encouraged to head over to their local fire station and inspect a fire truck, hold a fire hose and learn more about fire safety.
The theme for this year's Open Day will focus on home and winter fire safety, with the onset of winter next month, undoubtedly Australia's worst time for house fires.
Visitors will also have access to free information on installing and maintaining smoke alarms as well as brochures on developing and practising a home escape plan to ensure they can quickly and safely escape a fire or emergency.
Open Day will run from 10am - 2pm and visitors will be treated to a free sausage sizzle.
