Truck crash and fire at Coffs Harbour

Published: 4th April 2008

This morning firefighters from Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga responded to a serious truck crash and fire on the Pacific Highway near Coffs Harbour. The first fire crews to arrive found two trucks ablaze, nearby bush on fire and the wind pushing the bushfire towards houses. Fire crews were able to stop the advancing bushfire and attack the fire involving the trucks. One driver was located and treated on scene before being taken to hospital. Tragically the other driver was found still inside a truck after firefighters had extinguished the fire. Fire crews dealt with a small fuel spill and decanted the remaining fuel from the trucks. The Pacific Highway was closed in both directions for the duration of the incident.
