Campsie school fire

Firefighters from Lakemba, Ashfield, Burwood and Marrickville were called to a fire in a school in Duke Street, Campsie this afternoon. Fire crews arrived to reports of a classroom on fire and quickly found the fire on the top level of a three storey building. Students and teachers were evacuated from this building and a total of 420 people were moved to a safe area with no reports of any injuries. The fire was extinguished within eight minutes of firefighters arriving at the school. Fire crews ventilated the building to remove smoke and assisted with clean up work to minimise further damage. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
