Smithfield house fire

Late this evening firefighters from Smithfield, Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool and Parramatta responded to a house on fire in Charles Street, Smithfield. The first fire crews arrived within six minutes to find the two story house engulfed in fire with flames coming through the roof. Fire crews accounted for all the occupants and set up fire hoses to protect a neighbouring property. Firefighting operations were hampered by fallen power lines. Fire crews contained and extinguished the fire and conducted a through search of the home. The house was extensively damaged.
