Shopping complex fire in South Nowra
Published: 20th February 2008
An automatic fire alarm alerted firefighters from Nowra, Berry and Hazmat specialists from Shellharbour to a fire in a large shopping complex in Central Avenue at South Nowra this evening. When fire crews arrived at the address they found smoke pouring from the rear of the premises and upon further investigation located the fire, which was spreading to adjacent areas, in a loading dock storage area. Firefighters in breathing apparatus used large fire hoses to contain and extinguish the fire which involved mattresses. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for any fire spread and the shopping complex was ventilated as it had become heavily smoke logged. There were no reports of any injuries but a large amount of stock was damaged in the fire.
