Paint fumes in office block in Penrith
Published: 1st February 2008
This morning firefighters from Penrith and St Marys were called to an office block in High Street at Penrith where several workers had been affected by a strong chemical smell inside the building. Thirty people were evacuated from the building and firefighters determined that fumes from painting work at a construction site next door had entered the office block's air conditioning intake. Fire crews shut down the air conditioning units and ventilated the building to clear the fumes. Ambulance personnel were on hand to treat five people that were affected, with no one taken to hospital.
